Life isn't complicated. People are. - My take

Swagatha my friends. I am going to start this post with the Song of the day from the movie Hare Rama Hare Krishna. Sung by Asha Bhosle.

 

Couple of years ago, I had the opportunity to witness Asha tai's show live! No doubt, it was a brilliant show! Her voice is divine! I remember thinking for myself, Asha tai must be so blessed to have such a wonderful life. Who would have known that she had a troubled daughter. Looks like there is no escape from depression. She was the daughter of a well accomplished mother and was under so much pressure to be successful. I am seeing more and more cases like this all over the world. This is really sad. I had an emotional day today. Time and again we learn that the biggest part if a relationship be it friendship, husband-wife, parent-sibling (yes! I have seen this too) is TRUST. Once that is lost, it's over. Even if it is rekindled, it will not be the same. Both parties will be extra careful. Also, I had this experience of not trusting a trustworthy person and hurting the other person in the process. It was too late to take back my words. I can only try to earn the other person's friendship back slowly. So, on that note, I write this post today.

Yes, I agree people are complicated. That's the way God has made us to be. He has given us a brain to think. With the brain come emotions. I have not come across as single person, who does not have emotions. It is hard to control emotions. And why should we? I find greater relief in expressing my emotions. I do not struggle with them form the inside. Let people know you love them. Let them know you are sad, let them know they hurt you and see the difference. I think more people hide their emotions and feel suffocated. They are not living to their fullest in my opinion. Bottled up emotions are like lava waiting to burst anytime. It is eventually going to flow. So, why delay the process? Haven't you felt better after crying, or letting someone in, on a secret that you have kept for a long time? I have to agree with the quote - shared joy is a double joy, shared sorrow is half a sorrow. It is a good thing that people have different opinions. That's what makes life interesting. Imagine a life where everybody agreed with everyone? There would not be scope for development. To me life is as complicated as I want it to be. I can't imagine a robotic life where I have not gone through the challenging experiences of life. A friend once told me, a life lived without risk, is a life not lived at all. Life is a great big canvas, and you should throw all the paint on it you can. Life is the sum of all our choices.

Being "Simple"

Gentle-men and Gentle-ladies, the corruption drama in India continues. This time it is the Son in law, Mr. Robert Vadra. Sigh! Not a bad weekend friends. Friday, after work, I had gone to get my car inspected. Sad to say, that my car failed inspection. Now I have to replace all the 4 tyres on my car. More $$. After that I went for a long, brisk, walk with my friend. Came home on time for dinner. The whole family sat around the table and enjoyed subway sandwiches for dinner. I woke up on Sat. feeling really good. Got a lot done around the house, and finally the time came to meet friends at the movies for English Vinglish. It was a feel good movie, like expected. After the movie, we girls went out and had some kabas followed by lot of girl talk over a hot cup of masala chai. Priceless! This morning, I was standing in line at the groceries and the people in the adjacent counter caught my attention, as they were being very loud. The reason? A person was accusing another person (a desi) for cutting in line. Good for the desi, she stood up for herself and argued with the other woman saying, the person she cut was her own family (her mother) and she knows enough not to cut in line. It was quiet emotional for our desi lady. I am sure she was hurt as she was following rules. I am not sure, if I would have created a scene, nevertheless, I am proud of  my desi aunty. Later in the afternoon, I went to my friends house to practice a skit that we are performing live on stage, next month. It was enjoyable. She fed me the best trifle cake! Folks! Bigg Boss 6, has started today on Colors channel. I watched it on youtube. It was a good show. I can tell, the contestants were carefully chosen from all the strata of society. I could identify quiet a few feisty characters. I am rooting for Vrajesh Hirjee. I have always liked his comic timing. Al tough, not understood the parrot part. If indeed it was the parrot talking, then it's quiet amazing. It's definitely going to be Entertaining, entertaining, entertaining show! Time for Song of the day: Yeh, dil ye paal dil mera by Ghulam Ali. Im my opinion, Ghazals should be heard live. It is an interactive style of singing. The singer tantalizes the audience so much with the lyrics, the audience cannot wait to hear the ending of the shayari. I love it. I only wish I understood it completely. The usage of Urdu language is so high, that sometimes it becomes difficult to follow.

Does being "simple" equal to a good person? That's how most people think. I come across people all the time, who advise their children, to be simple in life. I hear this statement on TV too. I disagree. I really hope what they mean is be humble in life. My experience says that, people take advantage of those people who are simple. I have heard comments like "she is a simpleton yaar".  Today, people relate being simple to being ignorant. Gone are the days of Mahatma Gandhi. Unfortunately, being street smart is what makes a person today. There is a difference between enjoying simple things and being simple. When people say, nothing external to us can give us permanent and true happiness. We actually have all we need to be truly happy within us, I can relate to it to some extent. If that was indeed the entire truth, then why are there so many unhappy people in this world today? Somewhere, then the theory of  living the "simple" life is not the complete answer. People have desires and wants in life, for which one should approach life with ambition, to achieve what they want and fulfill those desires. I agree with Amitabh Bachchan in the movie English Vinglish when he says live, Bindaas and Bejijak. Love you Amitabh and your role in the movie. Good night folks! Keep living life "King" style.

"Chandni, O Meri Chandni".

Hello friends. Had an alright day. We did not win the Chili cooking competition. I liked our chili. It tasted really good. Vijay Mallya must be in bad shape these days after hearing that one of his  Kingfisher Airlines employee's wife, committed suicide. Reason? Mallya did not pay the employee's salary for 6 month. Gosh! Sell your yatch, beach house, horses etc., Mr. Mallya. It's not always about you.  Dimple Kapadia is another one. Heard she just moved into Aashirwad. Where was she all those years when Kaka was still alive? Hmmm. Anyway, the face off between PC and Kareena continues. I just read PC's statement - "I don't  just want to be a heroine, I want to be a female actor." He, he. Good one PC! Rekha is maha thrilled ever since Jaya has decided to celebrate Big B's b'day on Oct. 10th. This also happens to be Madam Re's B'day. Jaya is planning a big party as Amitabh is turning the big 70 and she is having a Pooja at their home on his actual B'day on Oct. 11th. Chalo, Rekha gets her share of happiness too.

Why India not The India? Why America? The United States of America? This is Epic!

Times of India gave it 3 and a half stars. The TOI reviewer ended his article saying the following: "Request you to make place next to you, Raj Kumar Hirani; Gauri Shinde has taken a bow in mainstream Bollywood." Imagine that! Gauri Shinde is successful in giving this film a mass appeal.

Cinema is rapidly changing and one can connect with viewers across the globe even without making the usual mainstream Hindi movie. English Vinglish proves it!" writes Taran Adarsh, Bollywood Hungama. " - This is the critics verdict.

If you watch only two films every year make sure you see "English Vinglish" twice! said another reporter.

After a 15 year hiatus and still remembered fondly for her powerful performance in Chandni opposite Rishi Kapoor, the well maintained, gorgeous looking, Sridevi is back with a bang! Everybody and their father attended the premier of English Vinglish today. The whole film fraternity showed up to cheer Sri, while her huband Boney Kapoor and their 2 daughters, stood tall next to her, their faces, beaming with pride. Amitabh and Jaya were there too. Looks like Ladoo wins over Barfi.  I believe Amitabh's Cameo in the movie is the only thing that does not work for the movie. This year the competition for best actress female will be so tight. It will be interesting to watch. Be it, Mr. India, Chaalbaaz, Nagina, Lamhe or the more recent Judaai, it is Sri who stood out with her scintillating performances and graceful dancing. Her beautiful, big, wide eyes emoted a whole lot, so much so, that she made tears look like pearls when they fell down her soft, white cheeks. Clearly, she was my hero. She ruled the late 80s and early 90s. The time period when I had an affair with Hindi cinema. How can I miss this movie? There is no way. She is a source of inspiration to most women. She came back with a woman oriented role and won accolades. Good going! For once the Sallu's, the Aamir's and SRK's can rest for some time. Tonight, I am leaving all of you, with a song from my favorite Sridevi movie, Chandni. In my opinion, she looked her best in this movie. Even today, she can give all the young heroines a run for their money. I love all the songs from the movie Chandni. For the sake of this post I will pick "Lagi aaj sawan ki phir woh gadi hai" Will be dreaming about Sri tonight. How about you?
